Medicinal plant encyclopedia

Cultivating knowledge, nurturing biodiversity

We are proud pioneers of the first scientific database of native Sri Lankan plants used in Ayurvedic medicine. Barberyn Ayurveda Resorts, in collaboration with the University of Ruhuna’s Department of Botany, has created this groundbreaking ‘Ayurvedic Medicinal Plant Website,’ offering a comprehensive resource that integrates the rich diversity of Sri Lanka’s medicinal flora with Ayurvedic practices.

This pioneering initiative aims to integrate detailed information about these plants, highlighting their significance within both traditional and Ayurvedic systems of medicine. By preserving this rich botanical heritage, the database not only promotes sustainable use of native flora but also facilitates research and education, ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of Ayurvedic practices in diverse ecological environments.

Empowering Ayurvedic Excellence: Supporting Education, Research, and Tradition

Malewana Gnanissara Ayurveda Medical School, Beruwala established in 1999 , serves as a national center for traditional Ayurvedic education, providing a four-year program to train competent professionals in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. The college also operates an Ayurvedic hospital to train students and offer free treatment to patients, while fostering research and development in Ayurvedic practices. We proudly contribute to them for administrative activities, offering internship opportunities to students, and providing medicinal plants and medicines essential for their education, research, and development efforts.
